One Giant Step Closer

We took the big leap today and bought our new home.  After years of talking about it and dreaming of this day, it actually happened.  We couldn't be happier with our choice.  This is the smallest trailer in the Lance line, the 1475, no slide out.  Adding to our happiness in finding the perfect camper, is finding it so close to home from a wonderful small business, Happy Camping RV in Vermontville, NY.  The owners, Hans and Pam are truly wonderful people, Max, the manager and Rob, the mechanic, have all made us feel like family.  We really wanted this personal connection.  After wandering around on some RV superstore lots, we knew that scene was just not for us.  Hans spent hours teaching us all the ins and outs of the camper today, and next week he's taking us driving 😲.

What really sold us on this camper are the comfy chairs.  We've looked at hundreds of campers, and have seen many that had some of what we had on our wish list, but none had pushed us into "this is the one" land.  Until we saw the Lance 1475.  Instead of the straight back awkward dinette that many models feature, we get these swivel bucket seats. Having a comfortable place to sit and relax, read a book, play games, etc. in addition to the other wonderful features like built in solar, helped seal the deal!

Meanwhile, we are busy paring our belongings down to - what seems like next to nothing.  The downsizing side of preparing to live the full-time dream is daunting.  It's a full-time job and now that the end is in sight, we are busy sorting everything into KEEP, STORE, GIVE AWAY and DISPOSE.  You forget just how much "stuff" (aka crap, junk, shit) you have in that cupboard, drawer, closet, shelf...  It's not like moving where you can just pack it up and take it all.  This process requires decisions to be made about every paperclip, every t-shirt, every book, every coffee cup, every EVERYTHiNG.  I'll be glad when the sorting and dealing with stuff is done and the fun can begin! 😀
